Daftar Lengkap Nominasi 90th Annual Academy Awards

Setelah nominasinya diumumkan oleh Andy Serkis dan Tiffany Haddish pada pagi-pagi buta waktu setempat (atau sekitar pukul 20.30 WIB), Oscar 2018 tampaknya akan jadi malam yang menyenangkan bagi The Shape of Water, Dunkirk dan Three Billboard Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Film romansa antarspesies yang disutradarai oleh Guilermo del Toro berhasil memimpin dengan 13 nominasi, termasuk Best Picture, Best Director dan Best Actress. Sementara film perang arahan Christopher Nolan, menyusul dibelakangnya dengan 8 nominasi, termasuk nominasi Best Director pertama untuk Nolan. Sementara film karya Martin McDonagh diunggulkan dalam tujuh nominasi, termasuk Best Picture dan Best Actress untuk Frances McDormand.

Film horor thriller satir karya Jordan Peele, Get Out, terhitung cukup sukses untuk ukuran genre film. Get Out menampakkan diri di hampir semua kategori penting. Peele menjadi sutradara debutan kulit hitam pertama yang berhasil meraih nominasi dalam tiga kategori: Best Picture, Best Director dan Best Original Screenplay. Nama Greta Gerwig muncul dalam jajaran kandidat Best Director, yang artinya, kejadian “all-male nominees” di Golden Globes tidak terulang di Oscar. Film arahannya, Lady Bird, berhasil meraih total lima nominasi, termasuk untuk pemeran utama wanitanya, Soirse Ronan.

Beberapa hal yang juga layak dicatat dalam pengumuman nominasi kemarin, adalah kuatnya dukungan untuk Phantom Thread arahan Paul Thomas Anderson yang secara mengejutkan berhasil meraih enam nominasi, Logan yang jadi film adaptasi komik superhero pertama yang dinominasikan naskahnya di Oscar, dan absennya James Franco dari daftar kandidat final Best Actor pasca munculnya kabar tuduhan pelecehan seksual yang dilakukannya.
